TAG announces its first Incremental Public Call
Transportadora Associada de Gás – TAG will start the mapping of market demands for its Incremental Public Call on Monday, February 8, 2021. The objective is to identify companies or consortia interested in expanding the capacity of the company’s natural gas transportation network in Brazil. Conducted indirectly by TAG, under the supervision of ANP, the Incremental Public Call aims to meet the demands for gas transportation services that cannot be served by the existing infrastructure capacity.
The detailed information for this process can be accessed on TAG’s website (ntag.com.br), where the Demand Mapping Form is also available. Any interested agent can inform the intention to hire capacity in the transport system and has until March 10 to deliver their forms. Producers, importers, free consumers and gas distributors can participate.
According to Ovidio Quintana, TAG’s Commercial and Regulatory Director, the company’s start in public calls aims to expand access to the transportation system, and the Incremental Public Call is an opportunity to develop new projects in natural gas logistics and promote regional economic development.
“This initiative is an important milestone to allow new agents’ entrance to the sector, to diversify the sources of supply and, in a particular purpose, to provide adequate mechanisms to enable important business opportunities. When a new delivery or receiving point is added to the network, for instance, the capacity of natural gas transportation system increases, bringing investments with multiplier effects for the entire economy,” says Ovidio.
In this stage that precedes the beginning of the Incremental Public Call, the demand for transport capacity of interested agents will be mapped, identifying new investments needs based on market requests. Interested agents will send forms with their non-binding intentions that may result in the expansion or construction of new entry or exit points in the current transport system.
Following this step, the requested capacities will be technically and economically evaluated by TAG, aiming to identify projects to be offered. The process is conducted according to ANP criteria and prior validation, with the objective of optimizing the necessary infrastructure to provide the service to the market.
Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A. (TAG) owns the most extensive network of transport pipelines in the country, covering approximately 4,500 km, that represents 47% of the country’s gas infrastructure.
