Lar dos Velhinhos de Campinas is to receive solar energy

The Lar dos Velhinhos de Campinas (LVC) rest home, currently with 79 elderly residents, will shortly begin to generate some of its own energy thanks to a solar energy system donated by the Engie Solar company. Worth R$ 25 thousand, the equipment will be installed in the building which is being modernized to receive the Mostra + Sustentável event and will result in an annual saving of R$ 2,500 to the entity.

President of the institution, Mauro Calais received the donation with great satisfaction. “The new system will add greatly to the entity, which in addition to the savings and reduction in monthly expenditures, will collaborate with the environment with the possibility of investing what has been saved in other areas of LVC”, he affirms.

“We expect the savings in the energy bill will assist the entity to carry on its marvelous work for the elderly in the region. We are very proud of being able to participate in this partnership”, concluded Rodolfo de Sousa Pinto, CEO of Engie Solar.

LVC has a history going back 112 years and is a national benchmark in care for the destitute elderly as well as being one of the largest and most recognized rest homes for seniors in Brazil. The home offers psychological, round the clock nursing, a medical area as well as nutritional, physiotherapy and dentistry support.

Mostra + Sustentável

The donation of the solar energy system became a reality thanks to the organizers of the Mostra + Sustentável event, which will be held at LVC. The principal aim of the Mostra is to raise awareness and incorporate sustainable concepts and attitudes in the daily lives of families.

“To be able to enjoy the partnership of Engie, one of the largest energy companies in the world, already on the occasion of our first event, is reason for great satisfaction. It reinforces our conviction that the Mostra + Sustentável event is an instrument for social, collaborative and sustainable transformation and one which has already begun its existence on a high note and is here to stay”, says Fernando Caparica, electrical engineer, the inspiration and coordinator of the event.

The Mostra + Sustentável event will take place between September 7 and October 12 and will include various attractions involving features involving architecture, art, gastronomy and the environment.
