ENGIE launches a solar energy signature service in Brazil

Since April, electric energy consumers hooked up to the Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) distribution grid can opt for a signature service with ENGIE to consume clean energy from a photovoltaic plant which is being installed in the municipality of Pompeu. Known as a Solar Community, the project has a capacity for one hundred signatories with startup in energy generation from the second half of this year. The initial focus is on small companies with monthly consumption of between 1,500 and 12,500 kWh and connected to Cemig’s grid.

“The Solar Community allows customers to go solar without the need for suitable roof-top installations”, explains the commercial executive officer for solutions at ENGIE, Matheus Amorim. “It’s a good option for those that are renting a property and prefer not to have a system installed on site or for those without the resources to acquire a photovoltaic system”. Amorim points out that the initiative is one more important step in ENGIE’s strategy of decentralization, decarbonization and digitization (3Ds).

Two signature service plans are offered to consumers: for a two-year period with monthly savings estimated at up to 10% in the monthly electricity billing rate, and for five years where savings can be up to 15%. All plant maintenance and operational guarantees are the responsibility of ENGIE. The Company already has studies underway to expand the offer of services to residences and also to other states before year-end. “We shall prioritize regions where economic issues and factors of interconnection, irradiation and plant suitability are satisfied”, says Sócrates Rodrigues, responsible for the project.

In addition to economic advantages and a reputation for sustainability for the signatories, the Solar Community has the additional benefit of uncomplicated management. ENGIE has created an app for tracking consumption and savings in real time on mobile devices using the iOS and Android platforms.

Those interested in registering for a signature in the Solar Community can fill out the form found in the www.comunidadesolarengie.com.br website. All those not currently eligible for the Pompéu project may leave their details for future contact as soon as new projects are begun.
