ENGIE opens enrollments for the 5th edition of the Women of our Neighborhood program

Enrollments may be made until November 8 for the 5th edition of the Women of our Neighborhood, ENGIE’s program for promoting gender equality through female entrepreneurship. This year, the call for projects prioritizes black women and mothers. A total of 100 initiatives will be recipients of awards of R$ 10 thousand each for developing their business, as well as training in entrepreneurial management, investments totaling more than R$ 1 million.

“As the country’s leading renewable energy company, ENGIE also works to positively impact the communities where we operate from a social point of view. And the Women in Our Neighborhood program is one of our initiatives of which we are most proud, promoting gender equality and female entrepreneurship throughout Brazil. Created during the pandemic, the program is now a permanent fixture in the Company, growing year after year with the partnership of other companies. And in this edition, in addition to once again prioritizing the assistance of black women, we have also made a special point of spotlighting entrepreneurs who are mothers.”, observes ENGIE Brasil Energia’s Chief People, Processes and Sustainability Officer, Luciana Nabarrete.

Since launch and including the four preceding editions, more than R$ 3 million has already been invested with an impact on more than 50 thousand women, including direct investment in 260 enterprises spearheaded by women.

In addition to the call for projects,  the Women of our Neighborhood pursues other lines of activity by offering free training courses, information on support networks, actions for raising awareness to combat domestic violence, as well as initiatives to support physical and mental health.

The involvement of other companies is through the Wellbeing Partnerships, launched by ENGIE Brasil Energia in 2021, inviting customers and partners of different sizes and sectors to engage in initiatives of social responsibility.
